The standard version will send an email alert to your contact of choice after a set amount of time of the alarm going off. Or you can make the in-app purchase for .99 cents for text message alerts. Of course, you have the option to turn off this feature and only use it as a regular alarm clock. Also built in is the ability to set an alarm clock playlist with your music library!
