RAID 5 data recovery software – review
The RAID-5 is widely considered as one of the most secure and reliable disk, based on the fragmentation of data at the block level and distribution of the parity data on all drives which make up the system.
When a block of data (chunk) is written to the disk system, a parity block is created in the stripe (a block is often composed of many sectors of the disk. A series of consecutive blocks is called the stripe).
If another block, or some portion of the same block, is written in the same stripe, the parity block is reworked and rewritten. The disc used to store parity ranged from one stripe and the consequent, and this makes it possible to distribute the parity blocks.
The parity block is not read when you access the data as necessary and not because it slows down performance, however, if it is read in a block which returns a CRC error. The parity block along with the sector in the same relative position in the blocks of data remaining stripe, serve to restore the block having an error.
This is not even reported to the user so even if one disk fails, the parity blocks are combined discs working immediately with the remaining data blocks to reprocess the data from the failed disk.
The failure of a unit, achieved only a moderate slowdown in performance. The controller does not report to the computer unit is no longer working. The bankruptcy of a second unit, having a single RAID-5 parity block stripe, leads to the loss of all data.
